On Sunday 25th October 35 energetic AstraZeneca team members laced up to walk with a purpose by taking part in the 11th Annual iThemba Walkathon, representing Phakamisa. Phakamisa - our Oncology programme in SA, Ghana and Kenya brings together different organisations to help raise awareness of breast and prostate cancer, strengthen healthcare capabilities, and improve access to treatment and support networks. Phakamisa was sponsor of the Breast Cancer Survivor T shirts for the iThemba walkathon. Over 400 Survivors took part and our new-look Phakamisa banner led the way for the Survivors’ Walk of Honour.
There was a great sense of excitement at the Phakamisa stand as the AstraZeneca Team warm-up commenced (a warm up of selfies and stretches!)
And then we were off, together with 30 000 other participants.
It was great to see how teamwork and team spirit were the winners of the day, with the overall message coming through loud and clear – we are united in our fight against advanced Breast Cancer and confident in AstraZeneca’s ability to be a leader in this fight.
Thank you to everyone who took part, you have raised awareness. You have made a DIFFERENCE!
We will let the pictures tell the story …
